In Your Hands
by Karen Berg

You hold my heart in your hand
And as I look in your eyes
Tears streaming down my face
You start to squeeze
Slowly, pressure starts to build
My blood is running out between your fingers
I am begging you to stop
To care for what you have been given
To give back the same
But you squeeze harder and begin to twist
Slowly...slowly....building
Until the pain becomes more than I can stand
Until the loss is more than I can bear
And I fall to my knees
No longer able to beg
No longer able to watch
Wishing inside me for death to come and save me
Then you stop
Then you hold me
And I am instantly whole
And I am lovely and new
And I look into your eyes
I am lost again....

I hold my heart out to you in trembling hands      And you take it......
